How To Cook Frozen Lobster

Lobster time!  The first thing to keep in mind when you are wondering how to cook frozen lobster is to thaw them.  Cooking a lobster straight out of the freezer will make the meat rubbery and tough, and you can avoid this by thawing them in the refrigerator for 8 to 10 hours or in a microwave oven using the thaw setting.  Once thawed, prepare the lobster by rubbing a bit of butter, oil, or your favorite rub into the meat, than cook in a 400˚F oven for 8 to 10 minutes.  Pull the lobsters out of the oven and serve with lemon juice, butter, or hollandaise sauce for a delicious treat.

You can also steam the lobsters for a more authentic meal.  To do so first prepare the lobsters by running a wooden skewer or toothpick through each of the tails, as this will prevent the tails from curling up will make them easier to eat.  Use 4-5 cups of water for each tail, or more if you’re using a whole lobster, and bring to a full boil.  Steam the lobsters for 1 to 1 and 1/2 minutes for each ounce (4 ounces will be cooked for ~4 minutes).  Pour the lobsters into a colander and run cold water over them to stop the cooking process and wash the lobster.  Then serve as a side dish or as a meal in itself.

Store the left over’s in the refrigerator and use them again for a delicious salad topping, or as a stand-alone snack combined with your favorite dipping sauce.
